"Thermodynamic debt", and an immense one at that, sounds like something to be paid back. In ordinary language the word carries guilt, obligation, and a ledger that must reach zero. Within the Framework it is an energetic transfer equation, and it is being paid continuously by the mechanics of the system itself.
The physics of the debt
Entropy is a strict accountant. Every time a living node maintains its structural order it must draw organised energy from elsewhere, causing an equal or greater amount of disorder in the surrounding universe. When you eat, another organised structure yields its low-entropy order to power your aperture. "Immense" refers to the vast quantity of thermodynamic work, solar energy, cellular organisation and time that went into building that food, now consumed to keep your prefrontal cortex firing and your body moving. It is a description of magnitude, not of obligation.
How the debt is paid

Converting the physics back into a ledger. "I must earn my meal by being aligned" re-installs the moral reading and generates ΔF around eating. The third payment channel is not a condition of the first two; it is simply the most useful thing to do with energy that is being paid back regardless.
Run once per meal for a period, then as often as it occurs naturally.
- Before the first mouthful, hold for one breath the magnitude of what is on the plate: the structural order, the solar energy and the time that assembled it. No words of thanks are required; the recognition is the act.
- Eat with the aperture slightly widened (§3.3): taste, texture and temperature at full resolution, the monologue allowed to run but not followed.
- After the meal, name silently the first local coordinate that will receive the energy: a task, a person, a piece of work. Go to it. That is the third payment channel, executed rather than contemplated.
