Appendix A: Glossary

Active inference
The continuous process by which a node minimises ΔF, either by updating its model to fit the world (perception, learning) or by acting on the world to fit its model (action).
Aligned executive effector
A node that has recognised its outward transmission as a determinant of other nodes' experience and takes responsibility for it: transmitting order rather than noise.
Aligned node
A human whose aperture runs transparent: narrow when precision is needed, wide when expansion is needed, never mistaken for the whole, anchored in the substrate.
Anendophasia
Absence of an internal acoustic monologue. The non-verbal node architecture (§3.5).
Aperture
The localised biological mechanism that slices the worldline and filters the field into a compressed 3D rendering so that the organism can act. Bi-directional. Adjustable in width.
Apophatic audit
The procedure of asking who is aware of this? of any object in awareness, including the narrator, and not answering in words (§3.4).
Block universe
Spacetime considered as a single fully extended structure in which all worldlines are embedded.
Bottom-up telemetry
Raw sensory data arriving across the blanket from the field.
Chapel Perilous
(Angel Tech.) The void reached when a rigid worldview collapses; in the Framework, a spike of ΔF without an anchor (§2.2).
Coupled blankets
The temporary shared perceptual network formed when two nodes interact; one node's action is the other's sensation (§5.2).
Criticality
The phase-transition zone between order (rigid top-down control) and chaos (uncompressed flooding) at which the aligned node operates (§3.2).
Default mode network (DMN)
The brain network associated with the ego structure and the suppression of entropy; relaxed by classic psychedelics.
Dimensional reduction
The compression performed by the aperture: high-dimensional input projected onto a lower-dimensional interface.
Dual-perspective mode
Running the executive layer (3D/4D interface) and the witnessing layer (0D substrate) simultaneously (§3.2).
Endophasia
Presence of an internal acoustic monologue. The verbal node architecture (§3.5).
Entropy multiplier / transducer
Two conversions of organised energy: into amplified noise (unaligned) or into coherent, lower-amplitude order (aligned) (§6.3).
Fluid aperture
The capacity to narrow and widen aperture width deliberately, returning to baseline without residue (§3.3).
Flatland paradox
The error of spending all metabolic energy on the higher-dimensional map while neglecting local coordinates; spiritual bypassing (§4.1).
Ground truth
What is actually arriving across the blanket before defensive priors distort it.
Holographic principle
The result that all the information inside a volume of space can be encoded on its lower-dimensional boundary; with string theory, the Framework's multidimensional physics (§2.1).
Information geometry
The treatment of probability distributions as points on a smooth statistical manifold, with distances between belief states measured by metrics such as Fisher information; the Framework's mathematical language (§2.1).
Interface (ego interface)
The rendered 3D scene including the located self and, where present, the narrator. A rendering, not the witness.
Macro-manifold
The infinite higher-dimensional universe in which all worldlines are embedded; the physical landscape (§2.1).
Markov blanket
The statistical boundary between a node's internal states and the field, crossed inward by sensation and outward by action. From Karl Friston's free energy principle (§2.1).
Mirror
Any instrument that reflects the node's position back to it (book, teacher, interface, this manual). Correct use: see the position clearly, then return to the room (§4.3, Appendix C).
Negentropy
Organised, low-entropy energy drawn in from the environment to maintain structure (Schrödinger).
Node
Any living system with a Markov blanket and an aperture; used in this manual mainly for humans, animals and plants.
Opacity
The felt density of an interface running high internal noise: defensive narratives, predictive panic, maintenance of a false sovereign identity (§5.4).
Persistence effect
The continuation of an interaction's effect in a node's updated priors after the interaction ends: hysteresis (friction) or residual wave (coherence) (§5.3).
Phase coherence / phase locking
The state of two coupled nodes whose blankets have temporarily merged into one harmonised feedback loop (Scenario A).
Precision weighting
The relative weight the model gives to top-down priors versus bottom-up telemetry; the primary dial adjusted by aperture procedures and by chemical modulators.
Qualia
The rendered texture of experience: the local output of incoming telemetry passing through the aperture.
REBUS
"Relaxed beliefs under psychedelics" (Carhart-Harris and Friston): the model in which psychedelics unweight top-down priors.
String theory
The physics in which the fundamental constituents of the universe are higher-dimensional vibrating strings; supplies the Framework's higher-dimensional landscape, the macro-manifold (§2.1).
Substrate (0D)
The unconditioned baseline awareness that witnesses the rendered interface and is not itself a rendering. Shared across all nodes.
Top-down priors
The model's expectations projected onto incoming data. Compress and speed action; when defended rather than updated, generate friction.
Transparency
The felt state of an interface with low internal noise: data passes through unrefracted, other nodes register safety, metabolic cost is minimal (§5.4).
Variational free energy ΔF
Prediction error: divergence between expectation and telemetry. The working measure of internal friction throughout this manual. From Karl Friston's free energy principle (§2.1).
Worldline
The continuous, static 4D trajectory of an organism through spacetime. The physical body is the worldline.
