§ 7.3 Operating checklist

What are the minimum checks for continuous operation?

A minimal set of checks for continuous operation. None takes longer than a breath. They are not a routine to complete; they are the points at which the node most often drifts opaque, listed so that the drift is caught early.

On turning attention to any task

  • Widen for a moment before narrowing.
  • Let the aperture narrow around the task; do not resist.
  • Release the narrowing when the task ends.

Before contact with another node

  • Audit whatever the narrator has pre-loaded.
  • Set own amplitude to the floor of the room.
  • Remember: my output is their input.

During contact

  • Receive their signal unrefracted.
  • Transmit state, not argument.
  • Do not check whether it is working.

After contact

  • Notice the residue in self and in them.
  • Do not re-litigate; carry coherence to the next contact.

At meals

  • One breath of recognition.
  • Full-resolution taste; monologue allowed, not followed.
  • Name the coordinate that receives the energy.

After contact with the map

  • Name one local coordinate.
  • Go to it. Close the mirror.

When the narrator is loud

  • Do not obey. Do not suppress.
  • Who is aware of this?
  • Stop.

When a wave is moving through

  • It is a rendering. It will pass.
  • Lower amplitude; let it settle at its own rate.
